High throughput screening

We have several key accomplishments in high throughput screening:

  • Established a manual screen for engineered Actinomycetes producing novel therapeutics, maintaining a throughput of 1000 clones per week with a hit rate of 1% (i.e. 1 NCE per 100 clones)
  • Identified a limitation in the high throughput screen for a biological insecticide, modified the screen to remove the limitation and delivered the first hit to be validated downstream in almost 10 years.
  • Automated a plate-based screen for testing novel antimicrobials against susceptible (MIC) and resistant (MIC50, MIC90) organisms including nosocomial clinical isolates.

SCIENTIFIC BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Our consultants have a broad spectrum of experience in biotech and pharma:

  • Consulted with private equity firms. Provided market analyses and helped them understand the upsides and potential stumbling blocks in several biotech sectors.
  • Worked on several IP infringement cases. We have several patents pending and trade secrets and have written multiple IDMs. We have experience in IP harvesting.
  • We regularly conduct market analysis and understand the economic challenges in biotech particularly in the biochemical/biofuel space.

Metabolic Engineering / Genome editing

Our consultants have experience working with a wide range of organisms including gram-positive and gram negative bacteria, aerobes, anaerobes, yeast and fungi and mammalian cell lines. 

  • Technical expertise: CRISPR/Cas9, Oligo-Directed Mutagenesis, Timargeted Knock-out/Knock-in.
  • Engineered gram-positive aerobes for bioconversion of low rank coal to high value chemicals.
  • Delivered multiple engineered gram-negative species for bio-conversion of agricultural waste.
  • Delivered improved gram-positive anaerobes for lignocellulosic biofuel production.
  • Engineered stubborn soil bacteria to produce improved therapeutics (natural products).
HTS

LAB DESIGN & ORGANIZATIOn

We have helped clients maximize existing lab space, assisted in the move of several labs and designed and commissioned new lab spaces. 

  • We use LEAN principles to optimize workflows to save time and money.
  • We commissioned and certified several ISO-5 certified cleanrooms for Dow AgroSciences including a cGMP-compliant suite for High Throughput Screen and a high security vault/workspace for Strain Banking.
  • Experienced in validation including IQ/OQ/PQ

Plant design and operations

Our consultants can evaluate process flow diagrams, optimize unit ops and design field test quits.

  • Modified a Process Flow Diagram to include new unit ops for mitigation of bioburden in a biofuels manufacturing plant.
  • Created a portable microbiology and fermentation lab kit for taking accurate samples and acquiring relevant and timely data from field samples.​
